Ok, here's my problem/question:I uploaded a PhotoshopCS2 generated web photo gallery (template used is"centered frame 1 - feedback") successfully. The problem I am having isthat when I hit SAVE FEEDBACK, it fails to do so. Should I not be seeing the feedback comment on that slide when I return to it? If not, thenwhere is it being saved? I'm confused. I've exhausted the Adobe Forums and my host-server support. I'm hoping you can tell me what's wrong. I'd appreciate any help you could provide.

I tried the template you reference,

• Choose File > Automate > Web Photo Gallery
• The Web Photo Gallery dialog box appears.
• Select Centered Frame 1-Feedback from the dropdown menu.
• Browse to a folder of images
• Choose, or create, a Destination folder for your files.
• Check out the Options (including Security) I used the default settings.
• Click OK.

The web pages and files are created and placed in the folder you designated previously. When Photoshop is finished, the Web Gallery will open automatically in your default browser. As far as I can tell, the feedback is not saved once the browser is closed. That means when you Quit or Exit the browser software, the feedback clears. It will save the info long enough for it to be e-mailed. Not perfect, but hey, it's free.

3-Dimensional World

OK, so this Post isn't about Photoshop. Sometimes I like to drive off-road and see what's out there. There's so much to see... just ask Adobe, a company that understands the importance of 3-D graphics in the 2-D world of graphics. That's why they recently released new software, Adobe Acrobat 3D to create and deliver complex 3D graphics to the masses. They are counting on the success of the PDF file format and its ability to be easily read on any platform or Operating System that has Acrobat Reader installed. Reader , if you are unfamiliar with it, is the free utility software that's designed to read PDF files. Because of the PDFs wild success, the Reader is already installed on almost every computer in the universe. That's good. Good luck, Adobe.

Open My Files Please

Here's the problem. My pics from a trip are on 2 CDs. They come onto my computer on the disk. I open them and there are folders, open them, open the contents. They are in the folder as: IMG_0502.JPG etc with the # portion being different for each pic.

They open in Picture Viewer and I can see them and do minor manipulations like rotate etc. I can move them to the desktop and all that jazz. What I can't do is open them in any other program, QuarkXpress orPhotoshop. I go to place the pic in those apps andwhen I get to the desktop to the folders that have the pics in them, I open the folder and nothing comes up, no indication that there is anything in the folder.Any suggestions? Thanks.

Try choosing File > Open As
Select Photoshop as the file format
Click OK.That might do it.
Have you ever tried just opening Photoshop and then choosing File > Open?
That's always the best way to open digital files. Let me know how it goes.

Printer Problems-Epson 740

I'm trying to print a digital shot from my Olympus digital camera to my old (and trusty) Epson 740. For some reason, the photos look almost solarized, with greyish blacks and hot pink flesh tones. I know part of the answer is to change the color profile, re-save, and use the checkbox (or don't use the checkbox) for the Epson printer profile in the print dialogue box, but for the life of me I can't remember how I did it previously. I'd appreciate any help.For these prints I'm still running OS9.1 and Photoshop 5.5 (I know, I know...!). Thanks in advance for your help.

It sounds like it's time for a tune-up. I don't think this is a color profile problem. The color problem seems larger than that. You didn't mention anything about the ink. Is it Epson inks? Third-party inks? When was the last time you made a print? Is the ink old?Try replacing the ink cartridges and run any maintenence utilities provided. Simple steps such as cleaning the printer nozzles may be all that's necessary to get you back on track. To achieve, photo-quality, ink jets nozzles are very small and subject to clogs. By the way, I loved my Epson 740 and I have no problem with OS 9.1, however the latest version of Photoshop is a thing of beauty. Of course that would mean an OS upgrade.....

I recently wrote an article for the New York Institute of Photography entitled "Thinking Inside the Box". It describes the convergence of the old and new digital world and how you can use it to your best advantage, and make a brushed border, while you're at it. I hope this helps.

Print the Selected Area

I have selected an area withe rectangular marquee tool. I want to print only that area, but the option Print Selected Area is grayed out. I tried flattening the image  various other fixes and I can't seem to get it to work. Can you help? Thanks

I'd make a duplicate copy of the file. Choose Image > Duplicate

With the selection active, Choose Image > Crop

Print away.

Pantone Huey Monitor Calibration

Last week I pontificated about the importance of color calibrating your monitor. Although the PS supplied utility Adobe Gamma is a good start this method is subject to the frailties of the human condition.

1. Color can be subjective.
2. Varying degrees of color blindness amongst the general poulation.
3. Monitor may appear different depending on the ambient light in the room.

The only real choice for maintaining consistent color is a colorimeter. Up until now, there were few reasonably-priced choices for the amateur or advanced amateur. Enter Huey by Pantone. Where's the Hand Tool?

spacebar toggle to get the hand tool has been disabled. This is quite
annoying and is slowing my work considerably, is there anyway (besides
reloading the programs) to turn this shortcut back on?

Since I only use Photoshop CS2, I can't comment on the other two programs. As far as Photoshop CS2 is concerned, the trusty Spacebar toggle to Hand tool should be working as it always has. My instinct tells me the problem is with one of the other programs. Has anyone else out there encountered this problem? Feel free to comment and help Monique get back on track.

Brush Color

No, you're not making a mistake Cuora, just change the Foreground color swatch to make the brush paint any color you desire. The Foreground/Background color swatches are located at the bottom of the tool box. Double-click the swatch to bring up the color picker. Choose the color you want and click OK. I hope this helps.
