What Pixel Aspect Ratio should I use? I was setting up a New Photoshop doc the other day and ran across this setting found under the Advanced section.
In a word, Square. Newer versions of Photoshop support non-square pixels for graphics used in the digital video industry. If your art is destined for print or online delivery, stick with the default Square option. Check out the options.
Choose File > New
The New dialog box appears.
Click the Advanced button (lower left corner) to reveal Advanced options.
Click the Pixel Aspect Ratio: dropdown menu to see the Pre-sets provided.
If you do work in the realm of video, the pre-set Aspect Ratios provided will prove to be invaluable. The correct aspect ratio will ensure the image displays properly on the video monitor being used. Check with the producer or video editor to ensure the best ratio setting for your project.
