No matter how hard I try, I always get dust on my flatbed scans. Anu quick ways to get rid of white specks on a scan?
Here's a good dust removal trick.
Start by duplicating the Background layer.
Choose Layer > Duplicate Layer...
The Duplicate Layer... dialog box appears.
Name the new layer in the As: text entry box.
Leave the destination to the default document.
A new layer is created.
Use the Zoom tool to magnify the document to 100% for an accurate assessment of the dust problem.
With the new layer selected,
Choose Filter > Noise > Dust and Scratches
Leave the Threshold at 0.
Drag the Radius slider until the dust disappears.
You may want to adjust the Threshold slider at this point, to balance the degree of detail loss versus the amount of dust removal.
When you're satisfied, click OK.
Change Blending mode of the new layer from Normal to Darken.
Note: If the dust spots were black, you would change the Blend mode to Lighten instead.
Lastly, decrease the Opacity of the layer to ensure a subtle touch.
